Tributes have been paid to a former college head for his "substantial" contribution to education on the Isle of Man.

Dr Ian Killip, a former principal of the Isle of Man College of Further and Higher Education, died on Sunday.

The Department of Education, and Children's Professor Ronald Barr, said he significantly enhanced further education and vocational education.

Dr Killip headed the college between 2006 and 2010.

After he retired, Dr Killip continued working as a self-employed research scientist and author.
