Girl, 14, killed in crash in Peel, Isle of Man

A 14-year-old girl has been killed in a crash in the Isle of Man, said police.

The girl's body was found in a car, believed to have contained eight teenagers, in a field off the road known as Switchback near Peel, at 23:15 GMT on Saturday.

Isle of Man Constabulary said seven casualties were taken to Nobles Hospital where five remain receiving treatment for their injuries.

Two of the youths have been released, police said.

"Support is being given to the family of the deceased," the force said in statement.

"The Isle of Man Constabulary sends its condolences to the family at this tragic time."

Insp Mark Britton said it was unable to provide information as to the condition of the casualties or the extent of their injuries.

He added the force was not seeking another vehicle in connection with the incident.

Police urged anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw a small white vehicle about that time in the west of the island or surrounding area.
