No strike for Isle of Man firefighters
Isle of Man firefighters are not taking part in the industrial action under way by those in England and Wales, it has been confirmed.
Firefighters in England and Wales, who are members of the Fire Brigades Union, are on strike for four hours from 12:00 BST in a dispute over pensions.
An Isle of Man government spokesman said it identified "some time ago" that action was needed over pensions.
Firefighters on the island joined a government scheme on 1 April, 2012.
Each of the 46 local fire services in England and three in Wales have contingency plans to provide cover, and 999 calls will be answered.
Firefighters in Scotland will not be joining the strike but could take action at a later date.
