Training 'to meet Manx aerospace growth'
A new engineering training course to help meet the growing demand for Manx workers for the aerospace industry has been given a grant of £250,000.
Eighteen students have been enrolled on the manufacturing technician skills programme at the Isle of Man college.
Funding for the full-time two-year course was shared by the department of education and economic development.
A spokesman said: "The growing sector will create hundreds of new job opportunities over the next few years".
The course description given by the Isle of Man college identifies the aerospace sector as the main area of study included on the programme.
The Isle of Man is currently the headquarters for about 12 space firms which are involved in work such as developing space tourism technology and satellite communications.
