Nursery worker admits indecent assault on IoM child, 3

A former nursery worker from the Isle of Man has pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a three-year-old child from the nursery where he worked in Douglas.

Andrew James Maddrell, of Ballanard Road in Douglas, admitted the charge at Douglas Courthouse on 9 August.

The 24-year-old had pleaded guilty to possessing 232 indecent images of children on 6 August.

Deemster Alastair Montgomerie remanded Mr Maddrell in custody until sentencing on 23 September.

A police spokesman said: "The indecent images were discovered following his arrest and had nothing to do with the nursery or any child associated with the nursery."

He added: "The owner, management and staff of Sandcastles Kindergarten in Douglas have been extremely co-operative throughout the entire investigation."

Support has been offered to children, parents and staff throughout the investigation.
