A man has been jailed for life for attacking a prison officer while on remand at the Isle of Man prison.

Steven Eric Galloway, 32, was charged with seven offences including making a threat to kill or cause serious injury, assault and conspiracy to supply drugs.

Prison governor Alison Gomme said it was "a serious, premeditated and unprovoked attack".

She added it was "very fortunate indeed" that the officer was not seriously injured.
