Port Erin gas leak discovered

A gas leak has been discovered on the main route into Port Erin in the south of the Isle of Man.

Energy company, Manx Gas said has implemented road diversions while engineers tackle the leak.

The route between Four Roads and Ballafesson Road will be one-way into Port Erin, while traffic leaving the town will use Ballafesson Road.

A Manx Gas spokesman apologised for any inconvenience but said the leak was not posing a danger.

He added: "We do not envisage that gas supplies to homes in the area will be affected.

"Our engineers are currently on site and we expect the problem to be sorted out by tomorrow [Friday] lunchtime."

The gas leak was discovered after a resident of a nearby property reported being able to smell gas.
