A former commissioner from the west of the Isle of Man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for possessing indecent images of children.

Arran Ernest Kaighin from Peel pleaded guilty to making indecent images or pseudo images of a child and attempting to make indecent images of a child.

The 44-year-old has been placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.

The married father-of-five stood as a House of Keys candidate for Peel in the Isle of Man's 2011 general election.
