Man wounded in shooting in Salford

A 25-year-old man has been shot in the leg in Greater Manchester.

The emergency services were called to King Street in Irlams o' th' Height, Salford, at about 2210 BST on Saturday.

The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Police recovered a car which was damaged by a gunshot.

Det Ch Insp Bill McGreavy said: "We don't believe this was a random attack and would urge anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us."

"I understand the local community will be concerned by this incident but I want to reassure them we are treating this very seriously," the detective said.
