Man falls 40ft through Guernsey warehouse roof

A man from Guernsey is being flown to the UK for treatment after falling through a warehouse roof.

It is believed the 30-year-old fell about 40ft (12m) on to the concrete floor of the building in the Vale on Saturday.

He was initially treated at the scene by an ambulance crew and taken to Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

He is being transferred to hospital in Southampton for further assessment of his injuries, medical staff said.

Guernsey Police said two workers from a facilities management firm were working on the warehouse roof just before the fall.

Officers said it had not been established how the man came to fall, but added that the island's Health and Safety Executive was conducting an investigation.
