Guernsey weather: Severe gales 'will batter island'

A "red" gale force warning for Guernsey has been issued by Jersey Meteorological Department Office.

Severe gales are likely to batter the coast from later on Tuesday until Friday, a spokesman said.

There could be gusts of over 70mph with the possibility of a storm 10 later on Tuesday - clearing by midnight.

The Channel Islands are likely to experience waves of up to 18ft (5m).
