Guernsey Police start crowd control training

Carrying out riot control training locally allows it to be tailored to island life, a Guernsey Police trainer has said.

Sgt Sacha Yabsley said public order training had previously been carried out at UK training centres.

He said the force had started a programme "tailored for island life".

The training covered a range of situations they might find, which includes crowd trouble and a violent person being inside a building.

Sgt Yabsley said the amount of training time spent on public order would be kept in perspective with the conditions found on the island.
