Eight French sailors were rescued after their yacht had engine trouble off the coast of Alderney.

The crew of the 12m (39ft) Imzad called the French coastguard after becoming becalmed eight miles south-east of the Channel Island on Friday.

Alderney's lifeboat launched at the request of their French counterparts.

They said the Roy Barker I was on the scene within 20 minutes and towed the yacht safely to Braye Harbour, arriving at 18:25 BST.
