Helicopter airlifts man off Poole to Guernsey ferry

A 70-year-old man has been airlifted from a ferry heading to Guernsey after suffering a suspected stroke.

Friday's sailing of the Condor Vitesse, from Poole to Jersey via Guernsey, slowed to allow a Portland Coastguard helicopter to winch him from the ship.

He was lifted into the helicopter at 16:45 BST and taken to the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.

The man has not been named and nobody at the hospital was available earlier to confirm the man's condition.
