The head chef at Guernsey's Government House has been awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (silver) in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The Lieutenant-Governor, Air Marshal Peter Walker, said Pippa Ozard had cooked for most members of the Royal Family during her 33 years in the post.

It is the first time the medal, which is personally bestowed by the monarch, has been awarded within the Bailiwick.

Dr Susan Wilson and Joy Bourgaize have also been honoured by the Queen.

Dr Wilson has been appointed MBE for services to AIDS orphans in Tanzania, having founded the Guernsey-based Tumaini Fund charity.

Mrs Bourgaize has been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the scouting movement and young people in Guernsey.
