Deputy Garry Collins has resigned from Guernsey's Treasury and Resources Department.

In his resignation letter he cited personal reasons for his decision.

The post is the only departmental or committee position held by Mr Collins since he was elected to the assembly in April 2012.

Treasury Minister Gavin St Pier said he understood and respected the decision and "valued [his] calm, level-headed and considered manner".

The department hopes to elect a successor later this month.
