Missing French yachtsman named by Guernsey Police

A French yachtsman who was lost overboard off the south west coast of Guernsey has been officially named.

Rene Yves Louis Morvan, 63, was reported lost from the Jouvente shortly before 13:30 BST on Sunday.

A Guernsey Police spokesman said the three other men on board were arrested, but have been released without charge and allowed to return to France while inquiries continued.

He said they were liaising with both the French and English authorities.

An air and sea search for the man was carried out throughout Sunday, but he could not be found.

The police spokesman said his family had been informed of his disappearance by the French authorities.
