Guernsey motor vehicle licence charges to rise

The cost of registering a motor vehicle for the first time is one of a series of licensing charges which will rise in Guernsey from 1 April.

The changes to some fees follow a review by the States, which said the increases were in line with inflation.

In October, the cost of taking a driving test or applying for a licence was increased.

From Monday, new charges for a fast-track driving licence will also be introduced.

If processed on the same day, the cost of the fast-track licence will be £30, or £20 for the following day.

Other changes include a £5 increase on the issue and renewal of trade plates to £35, and the cost of taking the Island Knowledge Tests for bus and taxi drivers will increase from £10 to £20.
