The sale of Cable and Wireless's Monaco and Islands division to Batelco has been approved by the Channel Islands' utility regulator CICRA.

Cable and Wireless announced the deal in December 2012.

It will see the transfer of phone and internet services in Monaco, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the Falkland Islands and other areas.

CICRA said it had imposed certain conditions, as Batelco would be the Channel Islands' main telecoms company.
