Guernsey fraud review to include public hearings

Public hearings will be held as part of a review of fraud prevention measures used by Guernsey States.

In July the Treasury Department paid £2.6m to people posing as the major contractor on the £80m airport project.

Public Accounts Committee chairwoman Heidi Soulsby said an independent review had been completed.

She said the committee would hold public hearings before producing a final report, but the fraud itself would not be discussed.

Deputy Soulsby said the specific incident would not be reviewed until it would not prejudice the ongoing police investigation.

She said the committee was aiming to produce its final report in April, when it would also release the independent review findings.
