Recycling back at Manor Stores, St Martin

A recycling centre in St Martin which was forced to close in July is to reopen after the public services department was given permission to return to the site.

The facility at Manor Stores, which will have banks for all main household recyclables, will reopen by 1 December.

Public Services Minister Deputy Paul Luxon said he was delighted.

The department was asked to remove the previous facility by the owner Sandpiper CI.

Deputy Luxon said: "As a community we have made fantastic inroads in recycling in recent years, and that is because islanders are really keen to play their part in that.

"However, islanders are also very keen to see retailers play a role by providing convenient facilities.

"So we are delighted that Sandpiper has offered us the opportunity to return to Manor Stores."
