Work starts on Guernsey care home project
Work begins later on new flats for elderly islanders in Guernsey.
Le Grand Courtil will replace the care home Longue Rue House in St Martin, and Maison Maritaine in Vale will become La Nouvelle Maraitaine.
The flats will allow people with care and support needs to live independently.
Steve Williams, of Guernsey Housing Association, said while building costs would be high, it would be offset by savings made within care provision.
It is a joint venture between the Guernsey Housing Association, and the States of Guernsey housing and health and social services departments.
