A woman whose body was found on a Guernsey beach was the victim of a "tragic accident", police said.

She has been named as Sallyann Bergerac, 34, a resident of St Sampson.

Det Ch Insp Ruari Hardy said an inquest would determine the exact cause of death but the "indications are that this was a tragic accident".

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Monday evening after the body was discovered by a dog walker at 06:30 BST the same day.

Det Ch Insp Hardy said the force was grateful to members of the public who had assisted with the investigation and for the work of the Civil Defence Volunteers.
