Two French sailors were rescued during a thunderstorm after sail and engine problems affected their yacht.

Alderney's RNLI lifeboat, Roy Barker I, was launched at 01:25 BST after receiving a distress call from the crew.

It was alongside the 7m Kenuin, which was two miles north of the island, within 15 minutes.

The yacht was towed into Braye Harbour and the yachtsmen spent the rest of the night in the RNLI station's crew room.
