Sark doctor's partner lodges death compensation claim

A compensation claim has been lodged at London's High Court following the death of a former Sark doctor six years ago.

Alice Robson is claiming £400,000 in damages after her partner Michael Bedford died aboard the MV Athena as it sailed to North America during a storm.

Lawyers claim the ship's owners and operators, along with a travel company, were negligent in not heeding weather warnings or giving safety information.

Classic International Cruises and Arcalia Shipping deny liability.

Mr Bedford fell down a flight of stairs on the vessel and later died of his injuries.

Sixteen other passengers are suing for injuries in the case.
