Guernsey States departmental elections held

Following the election of ministers and chairmen on Tuesday the States of Guernsey met to decide who would serve on its departments and committees.

Each minister or chairman was allowed to nominate those who will serve with them.

The departments and three of the committees are made up of five States members, with the Scrutiny Committee made up of nine.

If others were proposed for a position an election was held with members allowed to vote for up to four candidates, or eight in the case of the Scrutiny Committee.

The top four, or eight for the Scrutiny Committee, were elected onto the department or committee.

At the first meeting of each department or committee a deputy minister or vice-chairman will be elected from among its members.
