The cancellation of Guernsey's Battle of Britain air display caused charity takings to drop by at least 50%.

The majority of the 2011 display on 8 September was cancelled at the last minute due to poor weather conditions.

Alan Brunger, president of the Royal Air Forces Association in Guernsey, said: "It's one of those things that nobody has control over."

The display takes place annually, and raises money for the RAFA Battle of Britain Wings Appeal.

In recent years it has featured a range of military aircraft, including the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows team.

It is scheduled to take place again on 13 September 2012.
