Alderney marketed to house hunters across Britain

Two Guernsey estate agents are working together to encourage house hunters to consider moving to Alderney.

Bell and Co and Lovell and Partners are marketing it as a place with no purchasing restrictions yet the same beneficial tax structure as Guernsey.

Chris Lovell, from Lovell and Partners, said when it came to property you could get more for your money.

He said the northern most Channel Island was seen as an alternative to Guernsey due to cheaper housing costs.

Mr Lovell said: "Alderney itself is a super island, it has very much its own character.

"Those people responding to our marketing within the national press have a look at Guernsey and see that yes it is a super place and I'd like to live there.

"But so do a lot of other people and the prices as a consequence are very high. Is there something else? In Alderney there is."

The campaign follows calls by some politicians to increase Alderney's population to counteract the downturn in the island's economy.
