Work begins to change Guernsey pub into youth centre

Work has begun to transform a former Guernsey pub into a youth centre.

The charity Guernsey Youth bought the Caves De Bordeaux in St Peter Port in April 2008 and has now secured enough donations to start work.

Students from the College of Further Education have been asked for their opinion on the make-up of the centre.

Charity director Alun Williams said as the centre aimed to meet young people's needs they were the best people to offer advice on how to do that.

The site in Upper Mansell Street has been a pub or bar for more than 100 years but had fallen into a derelict state when it was purchased by the charity.
