Guernsey achieves Christmas tree recycling record
A record number of Christmas trees were recycled over the festive period in Guernsey, according to new figures.
The Public Services Department said more than 6,500 trees were mulched to be used in parks and plantations.
The number was 500 up on the previous peak which was achieved over the same period in 2008/9.
Recycling officer Tina Norman-Ross said the acidity of the mulch from pine trees meant they could only be used with certain plants.
