People in Guernsey may soon be able to dispose of a wider range of plastic items at the island's recycling banks.
Only two types of plastic are recycled locally, including plastic bottles, but the Public Services Department said it planned to expand it to four.
The expanded range of items accepted would include margarine tubs, yoghurt pots and ice-cream containers.
The department said it hoped the move would allow the island to reach a target of 50% recycling.
The department said it hoped to formally sign a contract with a recycling company soon to expand the island's plastic recycling programme.
