Recep Tayyip Erdogan wins Turkish presidential vote

Outgoing Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has thanked his supporters after winning his country's first direct presidential election.

He won with an absolute majority in the first round - picking up about 52% of the vote.

Addressing a large crowd in Ankara, he thanked every voter who had taken part.
