The leader of pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine has admitted contacts with Russian security services.

Talking to BBC Newsnight, Alexander Borodai also denied that his group had neglected the bodies of the victims of crashed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

He said that he had wanted to remove the bodies immediately, but was told to leave them in order to allow an investigation by international monitors.

Gabriel Gatehouse reports.
