Three arrested over River Shannon death near Athlone

Three men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found at the River Shannon in County Westmeath.

The 23-year-old was discovered partially submerged in water on the outskirts of Athlone, in an area known as Bogginfin.

The area has been cordoned off and a post mortem examination will take place to find out how he died.

Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
