An Irish teenager is seriously ill in a hospital in Spain after he was involved in an accident.

Oisin Merrit, 19, from Stranorlar, County Donegal, was on holiday with a group of friends in Santa Ponsa.

Oisin, who plays football for Finn Harps reserves, is believed to have been injured in a fall.

John Campbell, who is from the club, said: "I spoke to him the night before he went away and he was looking forward to his holiday."

He added: "Everybody here is still in shock and everyone wishes him well.

"I know that his family and girlfriend have gone out to be with him.

"He is a very quiet and approachable lad."
