1m euros worth of drugs recovered by Gardaí in Drogheda

Drugs with an estimated street value of 1m euros (£826, 476) have been recovered by Gardaí in Drogheda.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and drugs seized after police stopped his car in the town on Friday.

In a follow-up operation on Saturday, two men, aged in their 30s and 50s, were arrested after a second car was stopped and an apartment searched. More drugs were recovered.

Police said they seized cannabis herbs and plants, cocaine and heroin.

The arrests and seizures were carried out as part of a police operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the County Louth area.

The 28-year-old man is due to appear before a special sitting of Ardee District Court on Saturday afternoon charged in connection with the seizure.

The two other men remain in custody at Droghada Garda Station.
