Hectic scenes as PM Erdogan votes in Turkey poll

30 March 2014 Last updated at 15:07 BST

Supporters and members of the media surrounded a polling station in Istanbul on Sunday as Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan cast his ballot in local elections seen as key to his future.

Mr Erdogan is not standing but has campaigned tirelessly in support of his Justice and Development Party (AKP), as the BBC's James Reynolds reports.
