Man shot near crèche in Donaghmede, north Dublin

A man in his thirties with known dissident republican links has been shot and critically injured in Donaghmede, north Dublin.

It is believed the shooting happened while he was dropping his children at a crèche.

Police believe the attack was carried out by a lone gunman, who left the scene on foot.

They had previously warned the man that his life was in danger.

It is understood the victim is wanted by police in Northern Ireland for questioning about the murder of two men in Belfast in 2007.
