4 March 2014 Last updated at 13:57 GMT

Shots have been fired in a tense stand-off between Russian troops guarding Crimea's Belbek airbase and the unarmed Ukrainian soldiers previously stationed there.

The base is home to the Ukrainian airforce's MIG fighters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country reserved the right to use "all means" to protect citizens in eastern Ukraine.

Christian Fraser reports from Sevastopol.
