Mykola Azarov: Ukraine prime minister offers to quit

28 January 2014 Last updated at 09:55 GMT

Ukrainian Prime Minister Azarov has offered his resignation because of the threat to the economy caused by two months of unrest.

Ukraine's parliament is to debate whether to scrap tough new anti-protest laws which have fuelled demonstrations across the country.

The BBC's Duncan Crawford, in the capital Kiev, said the resignation did not mean the protests would necessarily end.
