The EU's immigration dilemma

European leaders are gathering in Brussels on Thursday, for the first time since hundreds of would-be migrants died in a shipwreck off the Italian island of Lampedusa.

The European Parliament has called for a humanitarian conference to be convened to discuss how to tackle the growing crisis, but it appears unlikely that the issue will be resolved anytime soon.
