Pope Francis in pilgrimage to Assisi

Pope Francis has said the Roman Catholic Church must strip itself of all "vanity, arrogance and pride" and humbly serve the poorest in society.

His comments came as he visited the town of Assisi, the birthplace of his namesake, a 13th Century saint.
