Man drowns in sea in County Donegal

A 24-year-old man has drowned in County Donegal.

He got into difficulty while swimming in the sea near Ardara on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the area shortly before 14:00 BST.

The man was airlifted to Letterkenny General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

In a separate incident, a 19-year-old man drowned in County Kerry on Friday.

His body was recovered from Lough Leane in Killarney.

Elsewhere, a woman in her 30s is in a "serious but stable condition" following a swimming incident on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to a location near Kilkenny city centre after she got into difficulty while swimming in the River Nore.
