Freed Navalny thanks supporters

Russian opposition figure and critic of the Kremlin Alexei Navalny has thanked his supporters following his release from prison less than 24 hours after being convicted of embezzlement.

Both the prosecution and the defence requested his release, as being in custody would strip him of his right to stand in the Moscow mayor elections in September.
