Senator offers flowers after racist insult to black minister

A senior Italian politician who likened the country's first black minister to an orangutan is under pressure over his position.

Roberto Calderoli has apologised to Cecile Kyenge, an Italian citizen who was born in Africa.

But many see his remarks as indicative of a racist streak in Italian society, as Alan Johnston reports from Rome.
