Lourdes evacuated after flash floods

The Roman Catholic shrine at Lourdes has been evacuated after flash floods struck south-western France.

Tourists and pilgrims were moved away as rising water began to spill over a nearby bridge.

The Massabielle cave, where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to a local girl, Bernadette Soubirous, in 1858, was also flooded.
