Turkey: Protesters return to streets in Istanbul

Help

Hundreds of people have returned to Taksim Square in Istanbul, which has been at the centre of anti-government protests since Friday.

The Turkish authorities say nearly a thousand people have been detained after the demonstrations spread to several other cities, including the capital Ankara.

The BBC's James Reynolds said protesters were determined to stay in the square until the government met their demands.
