Silvio Berlusconi seeks return to power in Italy
Italians go to the polls on 24-25 February to vote in an early general election with Silvio Berlusconi trying to make another political comeback.
The election was called two months ahead of schedule, after Mr Berlusconi's People of Freedom party withdrew its support for the technocratic government of Mario Monti.
Mr Berlusconi has sent out letters promising a tax rebate, a move that Centre-left leader Pier Luigi Bersani has labelled a "scam".
Gavin Hewitt reports from the campaign trail.
