'Le pong' gas smell crosses Channel

Help

A chemical plant on the outskirts of Rouen is leaking a foul-smelling gas which has spread over hundreds of square miles - across France and into south-east England.

The strong-smelling chemical in the gas is non-toxic but its odour has been described as "a combination of sweat, garlic and drains".

Residents have complained of searing headaches and sore throats.

Russell Trott reports.
