Pair charged over £4.6m drugs seizure in County Kildare

Two men have been charged following the discovery of drugs with an estimated street value of up to 5.5m euros (£4.6m) in the Irish Republic.

The drugs, believed to be heroin and cocaine, were found by police on Thursday during a search of two vehicles in Naas, County Kildare.

The men, aged in their 30s, were arrested under drug trafficking legislation.

They are due to appear in court in County Kildare on Friday afternoon.

Police said that in follow-up searches on Thursday evening, officers seized more suspected cocaine, heroin and herbal cannabis.

The drugs were found in Palmerstown and Celbridge and are believed to be worth more than 1.25m euros (£1m).
